Los Angeles's homelessness rose every year, and local residents were eager to find a solution. At this time, a group of students from San Fernando High School took up this responsibility and work some ways. Although they had no previous engineering and creative experience, but they created a solar tent, and it can be rolled into a backpack. Now, these students won the respect of the world.
These young future builders are hired by non-profit DIY Girls, which are dedicated to assisting young girls from low-income families in Los Angeles to enter the field of technology and engineering. Mr. Evelyn Gomez, Executive Director of DIY Girls, oversees the operation of all the projects and does her best to help, but all the projects are from the beginning to the end and are organized by only one 12-member girl. With the help of YouTube videos and google search, these girls collaborated with each other in a year with sewing, coding and 3D printing skills.
(Lemelson-MIT), the prize money of $ 10,000, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 16 at the EurekaFest show their creation. These girls are from low-income families, almost can not afford the cost of this trip, but the GoFundMe project found them, and raised $ 18,000 donations. For these heroes who have brought expectations to the community, the success is well deserved.
